Job Description


We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Office Assistant to support our Web Operations and Commercial Accounts departments based at our Flagship store on Charing Cross Road.

As an ideal candidate you will have good computer skills, an eye for detail, a passion for service and be able to demonstrate previous customer service and administration experience. Team work and flexible multi-tasking skills are necessary for the position.

Duties include: 

  • Dealing with special editions orders and signed editions orders
  • Administrating 'A Year of Books' Subscriptions  
  • Processing orders received through the website to agreed standards
  • Performing basic web office related admin duties
  • Library servicing for the library supply team
  • Preparing booklist quotations, including liaising with publishers to complete availability checks for Commercial Account customers
  • Answering customer enquires in person, via email and on the phone
  • Supporting the shop floor team when required


Experience of bookselling would be a distinct advantage. A knowledge of foreign languages is preferred but not essential.

You must be flexible to work weekends and bank holidays, as well as weekdays.

This temporary contract is for 37.5 hours per week worked over 5 days and will run for 6 months in the first instance.
